Papa J's Indian Restaurant Milton Keynes
This restaurant boasts very good food, particularly the extensive and excellent Tapas/Meze selection, though the modern decor features closely spaced tables. While the quality of the main dishes was praised, the overall experience was marred by erratic service, including late orders and missing cutlery. Despite the service shortcomings, the reviewer highly recommends the venue and plans to return, especially for a light lunch.
My first visit (ensure time for parking as a busy area in the evening)
The decor is modern with colourful bright lighting although the tables are rather close if really busy.
The menu has an extensive Tapas or Meze section these dishes were excellent including crispy prawns lamb and chicken 65 with various sauces highly reccomend for a great lite lunch.
The main menu was again really good quality food as feedback from our group of 8.
Unfortunately the service did not match this standard,erratic at times with lack of cutlery, late orders for side dishes and one late main course.
This was a shame the food is really very good indeed and the drink orders were actually very prompt.
The Tapas/ Meze was my favourite and I would definitely return for lite lunch/evening and I am sure the service would have improved to a normal high standard.

- Plain pops were a good size and nice enough
- Chicken 65, Crispy Lamb, Crispy Prawn, Chilli Lamb and Onion Bhajee (not balls) were all very good
- The lamb in all the tapas was tender
- Punjabi and Kadai Ghosht – excellent
- Lamb Chettinad very good
- Murgh Kalimirchi – delicious
- Tasty Butter Chicken and Methi Chicken
- Larger than normal rice was all good
- Naans were ok but only average
- Dhall Makhani – highly recommended
- Service was polite and efficient but at the same time a bit confused and chaotic. No dress code
- Two tables in corner were too close and cramped in
- Bright lights but a poor atmosphere
- No clear assistance with dish size
- One main and one rice were missed from the order
- Small dips with the pops
- Having any cutlery was hit and miss
- Di Piaza Bhindi – small pieces of okra mixed with a large amount of onions, odd taste
On the expensive side, order carefully.
