Maaya Review – March 2024

If you desire sublime decor,  a warm ambience, coupled with good service with a smile & excellent food, the Maaya delivers strongly on all counts. The menu offers all spice levels and a good selection of drinks.

The restaurant was full  with customers throughout our stay. Service appeared praiseworthy given the magnitude of staffing levels. Our orders were taken smartly. The popadoms with spices arrived in good time and the starters then mains were equally punctual

The food was, on the whole, an absolute delight. Exceptionally fresh and tasty accompanied with expected spice levels. One of our members was quoted as saying the onion bhaji’s were the best he had ever had, another member was as equally impressed with the bombay aloo.  The giant Naan breads add theatre & a gloss to the Maaya event.

Prices are a “degree above the average” and absolutely justified. It is no wonder this restaurant has won so many awards.

  • Laal Maas – hot, tasty
  • Lamb Achari, superb
  • Jhinga Tawa, good quality prawns
  • All positive comments about the veggies or naans. Rice mostly good
  • Good service and atmosphere
Negatives
  • Koh-E-Awadh, meat on the chops a little sparse
  • Lamb Dhansak wasn’t a Dhansak, not sour in any way
  • Starters arrived before the popodom plates were cleared
  • Egg fried rice perhaps a little ‘over fried’
Common Curry

Pricier than most but well worth it
