Dipalee Lounge
Dipalee Lounge offers a comfortable and relaxed dining experience with a warm welcome from attentive staff like Gaz. Guests enjoyed well-presented, generous starters and hot mains, despite some dishes being less spicy than expected. The restaurant is popular with regulars and even boasts clean, recently decorated toilets.
Dipalee Lounge Review – June 2025
This was an out of town visit for six of us up the road in Buckingham. Parking is limited outside but inside the restaurant is comfortable and relaxed.
We were given a warm welcome by Gaz and his team who were attentive throughout our visit. There is a well stocked bar with a selection of bottled and draught beers.
After being seated the poppadoms arrived quickly with an excellent choice of pickles. Starters were well presented with generous portions. Our mains arrived hot and were well presented. Although some of our group commented that their dishes were not as spicy as indicated on the menu but enjoyed their food none the less. There was a good selection of breads and rice dishes.
On talking to other patrons this is a popular restaurant with a regular clientele
I can’t finish this without mentioning the toilets; clean, recently decorated (think silver!), small but adequate and an improvement on many restaurant toilets.
Doggy Bag
- Table was ready on our arrival. Had to be changed after we were seated as it was too small for six people
- Dips were all laid out on the table before our arrival. Very good selection of ‘7’ dips, one very hot one
- The staff were very attentive, Gaz, the manager, happy to talk and get feedback
- King Prawn Puri, good taste, decent portion, very nice light puri
- Babori Mix selection of chefs choices, various tasty starters well presented
- Special order, Rashmi Kebab, huge portion
- Very different salad served with the starters, contained things such as olive, gherkin and various other pickles. Most liked it
- Chicken Methi, very tasty
- Hydrabadi Laptop Special, very good, tender lamb
- Bishwanthi Lamb Chop Hiadi, huge portion, very good
- Passanda Lamb, creamy and tasty, good if you are a fan of the less spicy dishes
- Tarka Dhal, delicious, crispy onions on top
- All rice and naans (Honey Naan, a new experience) were good
- A very nice restaurant, 15 mins out of MK, that has a good ambience for the partner and/or family
- Doesn’t have its own parking
- Only one toilet, very clean but incredibly small
- The draught Strongbow cider, not sure if it was!. The draught IPA, didn’t look or taste like an IPA!
- Suspect our special salad with the starters is not the norm as the table next to us all got the standard lettuce and tomato
- Quite busy but too long a gap between starter and mains
- Gaz’s House Special Korai, not as spicy as indicated on the menu. Didn’t consider it worth the extra cost
- Bhindi Bahji, looked good but little taste
- Saag Aloo, poor, suspect tinned potatoes used
